A very warm welcome to all of our new families who have joined this year and I do hope your daughters have settled in well. It has been lovely getting to know the girls and to see those who have been with us for a while, move up into the next phase.
As always, there have been so many great things to report during this busy start to the new year.
I am delighted to say that we have had two of our Junior School pupils (Maisie and Theodora) longlisted for the Girls’ School Association’s esteemed photography competition. It is always lovely to see pupils taking advantage of competitions that come their way and whether or not they win, it is my hope that they enjoy the process and learn something from participating. It is, of course, always wonderful to celebrate a win and our girls have certainly enjoyed a few great successes across a range of Maths and STEM Awards!
Since the start of the academic year, there have been a number of open events over the Junior and Senior school and it has been a wonderful opportunity to think about the progress we have made as a school. One of our focus areas has been enhancing the Sixth Form experience and deepening academic development. Following on from our very strong results, it has been useful to pull together some of the new opportunities that we are offering - alongside our more established ones - to help our community understand what Year 12 and 13 might look like. As the majority of our parents do not have direct experience yet, I thought it might be useful to share some of these in our new Unrivalled Blackheath High Sixth Form Opportunities booklet. From the GDST LEAD programme to Space Tech and Gold DofE to Sport, you will see that there is so much on offer to enrich our Sixth Form education. Indeed, there are yet more opportunities on the way!
As ever, our students and staff have poured tremendous energy into their work this term and now, as essential as effort is to achievement, so too is the time to rest and recharge.
I hope you enjoy the two-week break and I look forward to seeing you in school in the run up to Christmas. Happy Diwali to all who are celebrating.
Best wishes,
Natalie Argile
Head
