Preparing for the future

At Blackheath High, our focus is on equipping girls for life. This ethos permeates everything we do; from the curriculum we provide, right through to co-curricular opportunities that our students enjoy. We strive to ensure that our students leave Sixth Form with the ambition, confidence, courage and intellectual curiosity needed in order to flourish, wherever life takes them in the future.

We remain a single-sex Sixth Form due to the undeniable advantages it gives the students. We hold a firm belief that girls do better in an environment where they are free to be themselves; a belief that is supported by much well-documented evidence. The mark of a Blackheath High girl is the easy confidence that they exude, an inner-confidence which stems from being in an environment that fosters them as individuals and does not impose ceilings upon what they can achieve.

Oxbridge and world class universities

We have a dedicated and highly experienced group of staff who provide expert advice to students who are applying to the University of Oxford or University of Cambridge, and to competitive courses such as Medicine, Veterinary Science and Dentistry, to name but a few. Whether a student wishes to apply to institutions in the UK or abroad, they will receive personalised support and advice which will be unique to their application.

A number of our staff are Oxbridge graduates themselves and are able to provide subject specific advice for admissions tests and targeted support on the requirements and challenges at every step of the process, including carefully selected interview practice.

Miss Sarah Williams, our Deputy Head of Sixth Form, takes the lead in mentoring each student through every stage of her application until she reaches her goal of a place at her chosen university.
