This is extremely fascinating to us as, unfortunately, records of the history of this part of our school (which we moved our Senior School & Sixth Form to in 1994, after it had been home to The Church Army since 1965) are limited. Please keep us updated on any discoveries!

The Pastoral Team

Cathy Maddison Deputy Head (Pastoral)

Mrs Maddison - Deputy Head (Pastoral)

Pastoral care underpins everything that we do at Blackheath High School, a London independent school for girls. The Pastoral Team all work cohesively to support the girls. Form Tutors, Heads of Year, our School Nurse and our School Counsellor all work together, putting our students at the centre of all we do.

We pride ourselves on knowing each and every girl well and on treating our students as individuals. We ensure that students are happy and healthy – in body and in mind – because we know that they will then achieve their full potential.

We involve our students in the Pastoral Team too. We have a large and thriving group of Peer Mentors, who go through a rigorous selection programme, to become a point of contact for any girl with a ‘concern’ – whether it is struggling with homework or time management, or something more personal. Our Peer Mentors have Childline Accredited Training and they also support students in talking to a member of staff.
