Each year Junior School pupils create a self-portrait and their beautiful works of art are filed and kept as a record for each girl. This year we have used traditional sketching materials and mirrors and have also experimented with technology. Many contemporary portrait artists also choose to use photographs and filters as reference materials. Using iPads, the girls in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 have taken selfies and used these, with simple proportion grids, to create their portraits. Each year group has used a range of colourful materials to complete the portraits. As we near the end of the year, the Year 6 students will receive all their self-portraits to keep as a special memento of their time at the Junior School.
