Book Week at the Junior School

This year, our Book Week celebrations gave us an opportunity to focus on reading for pleasure. The week was packed with inspiring author visits, an emoji book quiz and a special book tasting event.

During the week, Nursery and Reception enjoyed a visit from Jessica Spanyol whose books challenge gender stereotypes. Jennifer Gray loved answering all of Year 1 and Year 2’s interesting questions about being an author. Ahead of International Women’s Day, Lydia Sanders inspired Year 3 and Year 4 with her books about famous females in history. Avid readers in Year 5 and Year 6 were captivated by Polly Ho-Yen, author of the hugely popular ‘Boy in the Tower’, who shared some excellent writing tips.

On Friday, our classrooms were transformed into special reading restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed ‘tasting’ exciting new books which helped us to explore literature beyond our usual genre choices. The girls gave the ‘meal’ a five-star review and are looking forward to the restaurant reopening in the summer term!
