Learning About Sustainable and Organic Food at Bore Place Farm

On our second trips day of the year, Year 8 went to Bore Place Farm, where they were given a guided tour of a working dairy farm and learned about sustainable and organic food.

BORE FARM 2

Read Matilda's recount of the activity-filled day below:

"I absolutely loved the Bore farm trip. There were lots of activities to do, so you were never bored. One of the activities was cooking which was extremely fun. We got all the ingredients and cooked sweet corn fritters. I enjoyed how we were allowed to be independent and use the cookers ourselves without help. Some people didn’t like them, but most people did.

Another activity was orienteering. We were in groups and we got a map and a marking sheet. We got given a number on the map to go to, and we had to find a red stamp which we stamped onto the marking sheet. That was fun as we were constantly running around and laughing.

The last activity was a tour which was very informative. We got to see how the cows lived and we even got to see baby ones. We went to the milking station and learned about how the milk was made into supermarket sellable milk. We then went back to school and finished the day off with a quiz. That was really cool and our team won!"
