Year 8 investigate farming and food production issues

Year 8 embarked on the annual trip to Bore Farm as part of a unit of work in Geography on Farming and Food Production issues.

Using a range of activities including baking corn muffins and touring the organic dairy farm, the students were able to critically evaluate current food practices. Students started to investigate the wider issues of how our food gets from a farm to our plate. Ideas such as organic farming, the locavore movement and fair trade were examined.

These issues will be the basis of the Geography curriculum until Christmas. A range of lessons we hope the students will enjoy.
