A lunchtime tour of Oxleas Woods

With Year 11 studying deciduous woodland ecosystems in GCSE Geography, Mrs Birkett and Mr Laber joined the Geography Department on a lunchtime tour of Oxleas Wood to take advantage of our in-house ecology experts and utilise an ancient woodland which is on our doorstep.

The students were able to identify the different layers of the forest; set up a bug trap to identify different tropic levels as well as appreciate how nutrient cycling and biodiversity would change in the winter months. Well done!
