Celebrating Women in Science

Every year, Blackheath High students rise to the challenge of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and this year we have particular cause for celebration as incredible three of our Year 13 students have already completed their Gold Award. Completing the programme during their final year is a particularly remarkable achievement as many participants finish Gold after leaving school, reflecting exceptional commitment, resilience and determination.
In recognition of their achievement, Evie, Isabella and Emily will be invited to Buckingham Palace to receive their Gold Award certificates at an official ceremony - with Isabella first to attend in May. We are enormously proud of them all.
This year is especially significant as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award marks its 70th anniversary, celebrating seven decades of empowering young people worldwide. We are also delighted that Mrs Stevens, our dedicated DofE Coordinator, will be representing Blackheath High as part of the official celebrations.
As one of the few schools locally to offer the full progression to Gold, we are proud to provide this transformative opportunity. The Award reflects so many of the qualities we value - resilience, initiative, teamwork, leadership and service - and equips students with skills and confidence that extend far beyond school.
