Celebrating Success in NATRE Spirited Arts

NATRE Competition 2025 Interconnectedness Safiyya Year 8NATRE 2025 Spirited Arts competition

We are delighted to share some fantastic news from the National Association of Teachers of Religious Education (NATRE). For the first time since our alumna Abigail won in 2018, two of our Year 8 students - Isla and Safiyya - have achieved national success in the 2025 Spirited Arts competition, each winning a main theme prize.

Now in its 20th year, Spirited Arts is a global competition that has attracted over 450,000 entries since 2004, with around 3,000 pieces submitted annually for judging. Schools across the UK - and as far away as Hong Kong, Australia, Thailand and Bahrain - take part, making the competition a vibrant celebration of creativity and Religious Education.

  • Making Sense of Life

These awards highlight the creativity, depth of thought and reflective skill our students bring to Religious Education. We are incredibly proud of both Isla and Safiyya for their outstanding achievements.

A-level RS debates at Philosophy of Religion Conference

This half term, our A-level Religious Studies students joined more than 300 peers at a live Philosophy of Religion Conference in Bloomsbury, led by renowned philosopher Dr Peter Vardy.

The day explored major questions in the field - from the relationship between faith and reason to arguments for God’s existence and the nature of religious experience.

Our students engaged brilliantly throughout, particularly during the final student-led public debate: “This house believes that faith has little to do with reason.”

A special mention goes to Emma and Evelyn, who offered thoughtful challenges - questioning whether faith can act as a “comfort blanket” and exploring how belief and reason shape our moral choices.
