A reunion to remember

On a balmy summer evening in June, around 50 alumnae came together for a magical reunion at their old school in Wemyss Road. It is always such an honour to see our ‘old girls’ of all ages – from aged 17 to 89 – enjoying meeting up with old friends, catching up on lives lived and adventures had. As the sun set, we ate delicious food, drank and took tours of the school, reminiscing about all the laughter, fun, learning and adventures that happened along the way.

We were particularly delighted to welcome Ann Lock, who joined the school in 1945 – the first year back in Blackheath after wartime evacuations saw girls moved to Tonbridge Wells School. She entertained guests with her recollections of the school as it was – including the boarding house on the Heath for girls whose fathers hadn’t yet returned from the war, and the strict mistresses who required perfect deportment.

We were also thrilled to hear from Alumna of the Year finalist Abi Gilchrist who treated us to a video of just some of her career highlights, from setting up UK Soul Choirs to a vocal voiceover for the Paddington in Peru movie! Thanks to everyone who voted for her and we have our fingers crossed for her when the winner is announced.

We look forward to seeing you all at our next event – look out for upcoming events on our Community Events page.
