Year 4 Bushcraft Adventure in the Wild

In June, Year 4 went on an amazing Bushcraft trip in the Kent wilderness, spending two glorious days and an exciting night in the woods at Penshurst. There was plenty of excitement: from spotting deer and a pheasant, to stargazing. For many, it was their first time sleeping away from home and camping in a tent.

Pupils embraced the spirit of adventure. Under the expert guidance of the Bushcraft team, they built shelters, set traps and made fires, developing their teamwork and problem-solving skills in the great outdoors.

In the evening, girls gathered around the campfire to listen to stories, play games, sing songs, and enjoy hot chocolate, marshmallows and popcorn under the stars. On Friday afternoon, the trip ended with a reflection circle where everyone shared their favourite memories.

  • “My favourite part was making teachers’ traps. And the food was amazing and so was sleeping in a tent with friends” (Anika)
  • “We got to cook our own dinner on the fire we made.” (Florence)
  • “I loved looking at the stars in the night, and I also loved the Boogaloo song, and when we were jumping around.” (Myla)
  • “My favourite part of Bushcraft was to be outside in the nature because it calms me to be away from the city.” (Katya)
  • “The smell of the air and how peaceful it was at night was amazing.” (Eva)
  • “I was hypnotised when I looked up at the night sky and there were so many stars, and I am pretty sure I saw a shooting star.” (Aurora)
