Vocalise, one of our small chamber choirs, had the amazing opportunity to perform Mozart’s Coronation Mass with the London Mozart Players at Fairfield Halls in Croydon along with other GDST schools. This collaboration with the LMP gave the girls a glimpse into life as a professional musician. The girls all performed so well - it was a really impressive concert that wowed the audience and inspired all the students. 

We are Valentina and Bea in Year 7 and we are part of Vocalise, the school Chamber Choir. Performing with the London Mozart Players was an amazing and unique experience where we most definitely made new friendships and were able to meet fellow students across the network outside of Blackheath High. We had been practising the Mozart pieces since the beginning of the third term, but it was nothing like performing it on such a big stage with so many other girls! We would recommend putting yourself out there and going for opportunities like this as it is a great chance to find a new hobby that you could enjoy or even turn into a career. We will both remember this opportunity forever.

ABBA Informal Concert 

Ms McGhee, one of our amazing peripatetic singing teachers, organised a Mamma Mia-themed Informal Concert, which gave girls the opportunity to perform an ABBA song to their peers. These Informal Concerts are an important part of the extra-curricular activities that the departments provides because it gives girls the opportunity to perform in a safe, judgement-free space. 

Brass and Woodwind Taster Assembly at Junior School 

Three of our talented Year 7 students took part in a magical Show and Tell music assembly at Junior School, showing off their instrumental skills to their younger peers. This is a wonderful opportunity for our year 7s to inspire and engage Junior school pupils and encourage them keep working on their instruments!
