Over the Easter holidays, students from Years 9 to 13 set off on a four-day adventure to the beautiful city of Vienna, immersing themselves in the Austrian capital’s rich history, art, and culture. From the moment they arrived, the group explored the city on foot - taking in the architecture, soaking up the atmosphere, and enjoying a bit of shopping along the way.
Day 2 was all about Vienna’s artistic treasures. Highlights included a visit to the Belvedere Palace to see Klimt’s iconic The Kiss, followed by a well-earned slice of Sachertorte at the famous Café Central. It was a perfect taste of Vienna, both visually and literally!
On Day 3, students experienced the elegance and precision of the Spanish Riding School, renowned for its centuries-old equestrian tradition. The afternoon brought a change of pace with a trip to PraterWien funfair, full of laughter and thrills. The day ended on a high note with a visit to the vibrant and quirky Hundertwasserhaus by artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, an extraordinary and colourful architectural gem in the 3rd Viennese district.
The trip gave students a unique opportunity to connect with Vienna’s cultural heritage and iconic landmarks, while also offering German students the chance to practise their language skills in a real-world setting. It was an unforgettable few days that left everyone inspired, informed, and just a little in love with Vienna.
