Getting your voice heard in the Greenman Competition

All students in Years 7, 8 and 9 recently took part in the Greenman Public Speaking Competition run by the English department.

This involved all students planning, writing and performing a persuasive speech. Teachers were impressed by the enthusiasm and skill demonstrated. The winner from each class went through the final, which took place on Friday 19 March. Speech topics included a proposal to ban single-use plastics, the suggestion that children should contribute to government, and a reflection on the notion that we should never judge a book by its cover. Due to current restrictions, this year the final took place virtually. It was judged by our very own public speaking expert, Ms Cath Day, who gave each finalist constructive feedback.

All participants are congratulated on their fantastic speeches and the standard was very high. The overall winners for each year group were Sophia (Year 7), Tallulah  (Year 8) and Hannah (Year 9). Well done!
