Sixth Form develop their empathetic skill in dementia training
Following a successful year of Sixth Form volunteering at Morden College, every sixth form student has been offered the opportunity to undertake dementia training as part of the volunteer development training run by Morden College. The aim of the training is to build dementia-friendly communities, so people with dementia feel supported and able to live without fear.
Even if students are not considering a career in medicine or alternative caring professions, we believe it is important that they continue to develop their empathetic skills and give them the confidence to interact with people who have specific needs, such as dementia.
The training also means that all students will be eligible to volunteer at Morden College next year, when (hopefully) restrictions will have lifted.
