Building towers with spaghetti and marshmallows in STEM/STEAM Club

As part of the many activities that happen during STEM/STEAM Club, students worked in groups to build a tower which was structurally sound and made it as tall as they could.

After they built their towers, we discussed about the different types of engineering and which one we focused on today and discussed about how buildings can be made fire safe by choosing the right materials, how the structure was important for building (and for the spaghetti towers). They had to have a strong foundation so that the tower wouldn’t collapse, same with building houses and even garden sheds.

The next activity in STEM/STEAM club will be making honeycomb on the 15 May, which the girls are very much looking forward to!
