Early Years excel at Sports Day
On Thursday 7 June, the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Sports Day was held at Blackheath High School sports field and great fun was had by all. The Nursery and Reception girls competed enthusiastically in their Houses and teams in many events, such as; egg and spoon races, sack races and even relay running races! The girls and teachers cheered with great enthusiasm and encouragement. At each station, the Nursery girls worked together in teams to complete each race and the Reception teams were able to gain points for their House.
After all the stations were completed, it was time for the competitive running races. Reception kicked things off with three different races, which had everyone cheering on the sidelines followed by some Nursery fun runs. The girls put in an amazing effort despite the heat!
I would like to congratulate the following girls for coming first in their running races:
- Uma, Annabel and Isla (Reception)
- Shahzia and Eliana (Nursery)
The following girls took second place:
- Aika, Krishvee and Natalia (Reception)
- Melis, Lilliana and Elsa (Nursery)
And the following took third place:
- Madeleine, Beatrice and Ava-Rose (Reception)
- Bella, Isabelle and Eloise (Nursery)
Following on from this, we had a running race for our parents and I don’t think I have ever seen such competitiveness!
At the end of such a wonderful morning, the results were announced and I am delighted to say that Vanbrugh House clinched first place. This was closely followed by Paragon in second. Meridian took third place and Morden took fourth place. I would like to thank all the girls, teachers and parents for their participation and support. I hope you all enjoyed yourselves!
Finally, it was time to relax and enjoy a well-deserved picnic lunch. The girls and teachers enjoyed eating their delicious lunches and relaxing after such a busy morning. A special thank you to the Year 5 helpers who were magnificent. They demonstrated, supported and scored at the different stations - well done girls!
