Success in first round of Mace competition

Well done to Emerald and Zoe in Year 12 who went to Brampton Manor School on Monday 27 November to take part in the Mace Competition. After watching an engaging debate between two sides arguing that MPs should have their pay radically reduced, our Blackheath High team took to the floor against the boys from Chingford Foundation School.

Our team argued that there should not be a compulsory non-military service after Year 13 and pointed out that young parents would be separated from their children and students would be delayed from going to university. They also questioned whether it would be possible to get someone like Harry Styles cleaning chewing gum off the pavement!

We are pleased to say that Emerald and Zoe won with the judge praising their arguments and their confident style. Zoe and Emerald now march onto the next round - watch this space to see how they get on!

Emerald and Zoe are part of our independent London Sixth Form at Blackheath High School. Explore the website to find out how we could benefit your education.
