Our unique 'Big Sister, Little Sister' programme is designed to build the Blackheath High community across every stage of the school. This term Reception enjoyed a special PE session devised by Senior School students. Using their own PE lessons to plan and design the lesson, the Senior School girls created a fantastic programme inspired by the Early Years PE curriculum. 

The session was perfectly tailored for Reception pupils, with activities designed to build balance, core strength, jumping and rolling skills, as well as plenty of chances to try out all the specialist gym apparatus. Older students demonstrated each skill, offering gentle guidance, encouragement and lots of high fives as the younger girls made their way around the carousel of challenges. 

The atmosphere was buzzing, and it’s fair to say the session was a huge hit. Reception threw themselves into every task, learned new skills, and showed impressive bravery - especially when jumping from heights! By the end, the girls were already asking, “When can we do this again!?”
