After the Christmas break, what more magical welcome back to school could there be than a flurry of snowfall!? Wrapped up in coats, hats and gloves, our Nursery pupils dashed outside to catch snowflakes on their hands (and tongues!), watch the snow swirl and dance in the air, and investigate the frozen blocks of ice that had formed overnight in watering cans and buckets.
Moments like these are more than seasonal fun. Research from the Centre for Early Childhood shows that early experiences play a crucial role in shaping how children think, communicate and learn. Curiosity-led exploration helps build the foundations for cognitive development, language, independence and emotional wellbeing.
Back indoors, our EYFS teachers built on the excitement by gently encouraging independence and life skills. Pupils were challenged to zip up their own coats, match pairs of gloves and hang up their belongings - small but significant steps that support confidence, coordination and resilience.
