Oxford German Olympiad 2025
We’re thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our talented linguists in the Oxford German Olympiad 2025, a prestigious national competition run by Oxford University. Demonstrating linguistic flair and cultural insight, three students received top level recognition in this highly competitive event.
This year’s theme, Spiel und Sport, challenged students to design and explain a board game entirely in German. Anaya (Year 9) was named an overall winner, placing her among the top young German linguists in the country. Her submission impressed judges with its originality, depth and fluency in both written and spoken German.
Meryl (Year 9) earned the runner-up title for her thoughtful and well-crafted entry, while Hannah (Year 8) received a Highly Commended mention for her imaginative and high-quality work - a distinction awarded to entries that showed considerable merit.
Anaya and Meryl were invited to a special prize-giving ceremony at Oxford University, where they received their awards from lecturers in the German department - a moment of pride for our school and a testament to the excellence of our German Department.
Herzlichen Glückwunsch to all three students for their remarkable success!
