DIRECTOR OF MUSIC

This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding musician and inspirational teacher to lead a thriving and successful Music Department within an exceptional school.

Responsibility will lie with the Director of Music to develop the School’s music strategy, ensuring high standards of individual achievement as well as enhancing the musical life of the School as a whole.

The ideal candidate would be a subject specialist in Music who is able to contribute to the planning and delivery of lessons up to GCSE and A Level, and who could lead the future development of the department and deliver part of the co-curricular programme. The ability to teach specialist Music from KS3 to KS5 is essential.

Music at Blackheath High School

Music is a popular and successful subject at Blackheath High School. We firmly believe all our lessons should be inclusive and the breadth of curriculum allows students to experience a variety of genres. There is a wide range of co-curricular clubs from Vocalise to Samba Band. This allows students to explore different instruments and styles.

Founded in 1880 by the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), the UK’s leading network of independent girls’ schools, Blackheath High School is a selective school for girls aged 3–18 and was rated “excellent” in our most recent ISI Inspection (2014).
