Transformation of roof terrace to commemorate WW1

As part of our celebrations for the Centenary of the end of WW1, we have commissioned our Artist in Residence, Mary Aspden to transform the sedum roof on Mycenae Terrace at the Senior School into an art installation of acrylic poppies. Students will be making the poppies in our DT workshops and the display will be up from 9 November until the end of the month.

We are giving everyone in the School community the opportunity to sponsor a poppy for the display with all proceeds going to the Royal British Legion’s annual poppy appeal. You may also, if you wish, nominate a family member or friend who lost their life in the Great War and their name will be engraved on the poppy’s petal. When the display is taken down, sponsors will receive their poppies to keep as a souvenir of the installation. The cost of sponsorship is £5.

In order to sponsor a poppy, please fill in the details requested on Firefly. The preferred method of payment is online via the school website, (follow the “Making Payments” link to “other payments” and select “Poppy Appeal” from the dropdown menu or alternatively by cash or cheque payable to Blackheath High School. www.bhspayments.co.uk/other-payments
