Flying High in Antarctica: Year 7 Flag Design Competition

Antarctica’s unique environment and exceptional scientific importance provide the backdrop for the Year 7 Antarctica Flag Geography Competition, with students tasked with designing a special flag using the themes of climate, wildlife, research, and global cooperation.

We’re thrilled that a team of Blackheath High students won this prestigious competition and their flags have now reached Antarctica! They were delivered by Rachel, the postmaster at the iconic PortLockroy ‘Penguin Post Office’. Port Lockroy has just reopened for the season, welcoming visitors who send postcards from the edge of the world, explore its museum, and learn about Antarctic conservation.

What a wonderful reminder of how creativity in the classroom can reach even the remotest corners of the world. Congratulations to winners Sahana and Emily.
