Year 10 MFL and Economics Day

On Friday 12th May, MFL and Economics ran a student conference day looking at how languages can make you more employable and help you to progress in your career.

As part of the day, our Year 10 girls had to pitch and market a new product in a foreign language. This was followed by a visit from University College London (UCL) professionals during which the students learned that we live in a multi-lingual global society. Whether we are working or are on holiday, language is all around us. Our girls learned that choosing an A Level language offers a range of career possibilities, and also enables them to study a fascinating subject while having fun along the way. A Level language courses are interesting and varied subjects to study and give the opportunity to learn a wide range of knowledge and skills. The skills and qualifications that you gain from studying a language at A Level are incredibly important tools to have under your belt.

After the morning’s presentations, each department ran a special language themed workshop or activity. This included French cooking, Spanish Salsa dancing, Chinese calligraphy and German Film.

Find out more about the benefits of studying a foreign language from Mrs N Rosado, Acting Head of MFL Faculty and Head of Spanish.
