The Senior School Curriculum

At Blackheath High School, we have ambitious academic aims for each one of our students and we provide a curriculum which will enable her to thrive in every aspect of her secondary school education.

At Key Stage 3 - Years 7 to 9 - the emphasis is on breadth with an element of choice, giving students the opportunity to explore new subjects they haven’t learned before. The core STEM subjects are taught alongside creative, physical and linguistic subjects, including unique options such as Mandarin and Computer Science.

In Years 10 and 11, in addition to their GCSE option subjects, girls have the opportunity to study GCSE Astronomy at the nearby Royal Observatory, and Ancient Greek.

All students follow a programme of PSHE and Physical Education, encouraging life-long healthy habits. PSHE topics cover everything from relationships, to careers, to body image. Sport options change seasonally and include Netball, Hockey, Tennis and Cricket.
