“Now that I'm at university alongside thousands of other people, I really appreciate those days in individual attention that I was lucky enough to receive at Blackheath. They gave me the confidence and the skills to mean I can now wander off into the library at uni, and pursue my own interests, assured of my individual ability to complete a task.”
Lois Edmett, ex-Headgirl, now reading History at Warwick University
Our aim is to promote every girl's personal, vocational and academic development. We believe that people work better when they are well cared for and our staff always make time for our Sixth Form students.
A well-developed system of pastoral care is in place, which aims to: provide effective support, advice and guidance for all students; monitor their academic progress and personal development; ensure that measures are in place to promote good behaviour and a positive learning environment.
Pupils are given opportunities to develop knowledge, skills, values, attitudes and beliefs through: the academic curriculum, assemblies, the PSHE (Personal, Social & Health Education) programme, industry links, including work experience (in UK and abroad), community links, school productions, extra-curricular clubs and activities, music and sporting activities, charity fundraising and school visits and journeys.
