Co-Curricular and Enrichment
Co-curricular activities are chosen to help instil qualities and skills that students need to ensure on-going success, once they move on to Higher Education and life beyond. Activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, World Challenge and Community Service teach a sense of responsibility and appreciation of community. They also help students learn to be adaptable and resilient. Plans are always underway for new expeditions to locations such as Borneo and Peru.
Each student has the opportunity to serve on the Prefect Team and in doing so will learn leadership and presentation skills. PSHE lessons challenge moral judgement and encourage our students to question the rights and wrongs of decisions.
There is also a fantastic range of clubs to choose from, for example, Debating, Amnesty International, Boxercise, Ukulele Band, as well as clubs relating to the academic curriculum, for example Maths, Science and English Clubs. We have an active MEDSOC club where students discuss matters relating to applying for medical courses.
All students have the opportunity to join the highly popular choirs, orchestra’s and bands. We have a very enthusiastic music department and participation is greatly enjoyed by many.
LAMDA tuition and examinations are also very popular and students can participate in school productions whether or not they are taking Theatre Studies at A level.
All Sixth Formers also have great fun organising the annual Sixth Form Review as well as the Fashion Show (click here to view the photo gallery from this event). There are so many opportunities here that you may well find it difficult to make choices!
