Co-Curricular and Enrichment
"A broad range of extra-curricular provision encourages a sense of adventure and risk taking through outdoor pursuits and expeditions, such of the DofE. Pupils enjoy participating in public speaking competitions and success has been achieved in several enterprise competitions. Pupils develop their very good leadership skills through opportunities to organise events." ISI
We offer a full programme of co-curricular activities which take place before school, at lunch time and after school.
The co-curricular programme gives our girls the opportunity to develop skills and qualities such as initiative, interpersonal skills, independence of thought, problem solving, project management, having a positive attitude and working well in a team, all of which are very important life skills.
Whilst good qualifications are obviously important, facilitating access to the first step of the chosen career ladder, it is these additional skills that will aid further progress.
Many of our co-curricular activities are linked to sport, music and drama, whilst others are run by academic departments such as the Debating (English), Ukelele Club (Music), Humanities Club, Maths Club, Film Club, Spanish (Modern Languages), Science Club, Eco Club (Geography and Science) and etc. These allow girls to develop areas of interest and extend their learning. Lists of clubs for each year group can be downloaded at the foot of this page.
Some departments also run subject support sessions for those needing extra help.
Other clubs include ICT, Rock Band, Duke of Edinburgh, Award Scheme, Book Club, Chess Club, Amnesty International Club and Cookery, to name but a few!
Mindfulness sessions take place during assembly assembly once a week for the whole school to encourage focus and help our girls to clear their heads of information overload!
