Wellbeing
A holistic approach
Sixth Form is a unique chapter in your life. It is an exciting time, but it can also bring new pressures – increased academic demands, growing independence and important decisions about the future can feel intense at times. At Blackheath High, wellbeing is not an add-on, it is woven into the fabric of Sixth Form life.
Our dedicated pastoral and wellbeing programme is designed to support you as a whole person. We take a proactive, open approach to mental health, helping you develop the confidence, self-awareness and practical strategies you need to balance ambition with wellbeing, and challenge with enjoyment.
one-to-one support
We see you as a whole person, not just a student. At the heart of Sixth Form life is a wellbeing programme designed entirely around you. You’ll have regular one-to-one time with your form tutor, offering a consistent, trusted space to talk – whether that’s about managing workload, navigating personal issues or planning next steps beyond school. Small class sizes mean teachers know you well: your strengths, your goals and how you work best.
A culture of openness and trust
We believe that teenage mental health requires honesty, expertise and specialist support. Our Sixth Form fosters an open, age-appropriate culture where students feel able to speak up and seek support early, and where parents are kept informed and involved.
Alongside a tailored PSHE programme, students benefit from wellbeing-focused initiatives throughout the year – including Wellbeing Weeks, peer mentoring, social events and opportunities to step back, reset and reconnect.
space to breathe
Alongside your lessons, independent studies and your co-curricular pursuits, you will have time in your day for rest and calm. Whether in the Sixth Form Centre, the Common Room or in one of our outdoor areas, there is space for you to catch up with friends, read a book or listen to music.
a place to be you
At Blackheath High, you’ll find a warm, welcoming community where everyone is accepted for who they are. In Sixth Form, that sense of belonging really comes to life – you’ll build genuine friendships, feel supported by teachers who know you well, and be part of a down-to-earth, inclusive environment where kindness matters.
No one slips under the radar here. Our Wellbeing team is always available if you need a quiet moment, a chat or a bit of support.
sport
Life in Sixth Form is busy and staying active is a vital way to stay balanced, healthy and happy. Our Sixth Form Sports programme has been designed to grow with you, offering a wide variety of different sporting activities.

At the heart of our programme is wellbeing. We believe sport is about far more than performance – it’s about confidence, resilience, teamwork and lifelong healthy habits. Our inclusive, empowering approach will help you stay active for life and thrive both on and off the field.
