Sports Day – Years 1-3 & Years 4-6
It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm, teamwork, resilience and perseverance from across the school in both the Years 1-3 and Years 4-6 Sports Days. They gave it their all, cheered each other on, and enjoyed the day with lots of smiles and laughter. We are so proud of the effort, confidence, and positive attitudes they displayed throughout.
A big thank you to our parents and families for your wonderful support and encouragement. We are also incredibly grateful to our Sports Prefects supporting the Years 1–3 Sports Day, and our Year 7-8 Senior School girls in Years 4-6 Sports Day – their leadership, enthusiasm, and encouragement helped the activities run very smoothly. They were a fantastic support throughout the day and excellent role models for our younger pupils.
- Overall winners for Years 1-3 were Meridian
- Overall winners for Years 4-6 were Meridian – with winners by year group were: Morden (Year 4), Paragon (Year 5), Morden (Year 6)
Well done to all the girls for their fantastic effort and house spirit.
Junior School visit Wimbledon
New balls please! We were delighted to lead a group of KS2 pupils on an exciting trip to the Wimbledon Championships during the first week of the tournament and enjoy all things tennis. From our fabulous seats, we watched a men’s seed and a lady’s seed game; we did some ‘tennis maths’, working out that some of the serves were twice as fast as the speed limit on the motorway; and we even got to watch the VIP guests arrive in their fancy outfits. And no trip to Wimbledon would be complete without heading to the gift shop for souvenirs, queuing for strawberries and cream, and exploring the trophies in the Wimbledon Museum.
On the journey back, everyone agreed that while the tennis was thrilling, the whole day had been an adventure. Comments included:
- Wimbledon wasn’t just tennis courts; it was a whole town!
- They are thinking about the environment, and all the buildings are covered in ivy and flowers
- The gift shop was over-priced, but the strawberries and cream were a bargain!
For their teachers, the best bit was all the compliments the girls received from members of the public for their manners, patience and polite behaviour – on the Tube, in the queue for strawberries and cream and in the museum.

Building strength for sport – and for life
Our Year 10 GCSE PE students and Sports Scholars recently attended a GDST Strength and Conditioning Day at Merritt Wood College, where they explored the science behind athletic performance and discovered why strength training is one of the most important forms of exercise, especially for women.
Throughout the day, students took part in a series of fitness assessments, measuring speed, agility, power and strength, before learning how to perform key resistance exercises, including the back squat, safely and effectively.
Beyond improving sporting performance, the sessions highlighted the lifelong benefits of strength training for girls and women. Students learned how resistance training can help reduce the risk of injury, improve bone health, build confidence and establish healthy exercise habits that support wellbeing long after they leave school.
As research continues to demonstrate the importance of strength training for women at every stage of life, opportunities like this ensure our students develop not only the practical skills to train safely, but also the knowledge and confidence to make strength training part of a healthy lifestyle.
Our students returned inspired, empowered and ready to put their learning into practice both in sport and beyond.
