Memorable final adventures for Year 6

Year 6 pupils prepare for their next exciting step into Senior School.

As Year 6 pupils prepare to take their next exciting step into Senior School, they have been celebrating the end of their Junior School journey with a series of memorable milestones. From an emotional Celebration Event and a fantastic production of Kitty Whittington to an unforgettable trip to France, it has been a joyous finale.

At their final Celebration Event, pupils and their families enjoyed a special morning reflecting on the friendships, achievements and memories that have defined their years at Blackheath High. The girls were delighted to welcome England and Great Britain hockey player Holly Hunt, who shared an inspiring message about resilience, determination and following your ambitions. The celebration also included moving reflections from the girls themselves, a film capturing highlights of their Junior School journey and a special seated breakfast with their families.

Year 6 Production: Kitty Whittington

Year 6 pupils brought a touch of the West End to the Junior School with a dazzling production of Kitty Whittington. Filled with memorable songs, colourful characters and plenty of humour, the production celebrated themes of perseverance, resilience and friendship – qualities that have shone through this year group throughout their time at Blackheath High. The girls performed with confidence, energy and infectious enthusiasm, delighting audiences from the opening scene to the final curtain. Browse the gallery below to see some of the highlights.

An unforgettable trip to Rue

From practising their French in bustling markets to exploring historic landmarks and enjoying unforgettable experiences with friends, Year 6 had a wonderful week at the Château de Broutel in Rue, Northern France.

The trip was packed with opportunities to immerse ourselves in French culture. Whether ordering souvenirs in Étaples, enjoying croissants for breakfast or sampling delicious crêpes in Amiens, girls embraced every opportunity to use their language skills with growing confidence. Visits to the spectacular Nausicaá Aquarium, Amiens Cathedral and the family-run Chocolaterie Beussent Lachelle also gave them a fascinating insight into life, history and culture in northern France.

There were plenty of memorable hands-on experiences too. At an educational urban farm, pupils took part in sensory activities and created fragrant herb sachets, while a visit to a local goat farm saw them feeding animals, cuddling baby goats and even trying their hand at milking. A visit to the Lochnagar Crater and Thiepval Memorial offered a powerful opportunity to reflect on the events of the First World War and the human stories behind the history.

Back at the château, friendships flourished through games, campfires, pétanque, discos and shared adventures in the dormitories. The girls represented Blackheath High brilliantly throughout the trip, demonstrating independence, kindness and enthusiasm wherever they went.

Un grand merci to all of Year 6 for making the trip such a joy. We returned home with wonderful memories, stronger friendships and, of course, plenty of chocolate!
