Looking after our coasts

Nursery's seaside stories spark big conversations about protecting our beaches.

In Nursery, our seaside stories Tiny Crab is a Tidy Crab and Clean Up have sparked big conversations about caring for our beaches and protecting them for both people and wildlife. Inspired by the stories, the girls became mini environmental campaigners, creating colourful ‘Save the Seaside’ posters to encourage everyone to look after our coastline. Younger pupils expressed their ideas through drawings and early mark-making, while older girls used their growing phonics knowledge to label their posters with powerful messages.

The children also enjoyed creating postcards to send home and took great pride in making Father’s Day cards. Through storytelling, they have been developing their confidence as communicators while discovering that even small actions can make a big difference to the world around them.

In their final week of school, the girls particularly enjoyed a special Beach Day, which was a wonderful way to cool down and bring their seaside-themed term to a memorable close.
