Travel has the power to transform learning, broaden horizons and develop new passions. Throughout the year, students across the school have enjoyed an exciting programme of educational visits and residential trips, returning with new knowledge, stronger friendships and memories that will last for years to come. From adventurous expeditions to immersive geography trip, here are just a few of this year’s highlights.
An unforgettable Sicily adventure
Our Geography students enjoyed an unforgettable week in Sicily, where volcanoes, dramatic landscapes and stunning scenery brought everything they had learnt in the classroom to life.
The trip was packed with incredible experiences, from taking a cable car and 4×4 up the slopes of Mount Etna before hiking around one of its many craters, to climbing the steaming crater rim of Vulcano and exploring the island that gave volcanoes their name. At the spectacular Alcantara Gorge, our intrepid team scrambled through ancient lava formations and bravely threw themselves into the exhilarating water activities.
There was also time to soak up Sicily’s culture, with visits to the beautiful Cyclops Riviera and the picturesque hilltop town of Taormina, where the group explored the famous Greco-Roman theatre before rounding off the day with a well-earned pizza by the sea.
It was an incredible trip, combining adventure, geography and plenty of fun, while giving students the chance to experience some of Europe’s most extraordinary landscapes first-hand.

Preparing for Nepal: adventure with purpose
This summer, a group of Year 11 and Sixth Form students will set off on the adventure of a lifetime as they travel to Nepal with travel experts Global Action. Ahead of their expedition, the group recently came together with students from Norwich High GDST for a training hike in Thetford Forest, preparing both physically and mentally for the challenge ahead.
Led by the Global Action team, the day combined practical expedition training with team-building activities and an introduction to Nepalese culture, giving students a taste of what lies ahead and the opportunity to get to know one another before departure.
The expedition promises to be far more than a trekking adventure. Alongside exploring Nepal’s breathtaking landscapes, students will work with a local primary school on a project to improve access to clean water, making a meaningful contribution to the community they’ll be visiting and experiencing the joys of global citizenship. With just weeks to go, excitement is building for what promises to be a truly unforgettable experience.
