imagine this

Drama plays a leading role at our Junior School. It inspires creativity, nurtures confidence and helps every pupil find their voice – whether in class, on stage, or in life.

From the many inspiring, imaginative play areas throughout the school, to the wealth of performance and speaking opportunities, Drama is woven into the fabric of our pupils’ learning.

specialist teaching

From Year 3 onwards, Drama is taught by a specialist teacher with lessons exploring a wide range of skills – from characterisation and improvisation, to performance, poetry and debate – encouraging pupils to think imaginatively, work collaboratively and perform with confidence.

Curtains up!

Performance is an integral part of life at Blackheath High. Throughout the year, pupils take to the stage in a wide range of productions that build skills such as confidence, creativity, leadership, collaboration, resilience and pride. From the heart-warming Nursery Christmas Play to the much-anticipated Year 6 productions – recent highlights include Olivia!, The Wizard of Oz and Kitty Whittington – every performance opportunity gives girls the chance to shine, grow and celebrate their achievements together.

opportunities beyond the classroom

Pupils can develop their love of performance through LAMDA lessons, Debating Club, and interschool competitions, as well as joint initiatives with our Senior School such as Shakespeare workshops, a Globe Theatre trip and a whole-school poetry competition.
