Children painting together energetically.

daydream believers

We teach girls to believe in the power of their imagination. Our broad and ambitious Art & Design curriculum nurtures creativity, curiosity and self-expression, empowering every pupil to explore their ideas boldly and build a wide range of artistic skills as they journey through the Junior School.

SPECIALIST TEACHING

Art lessons take place in our dedicated, well-equipped Art studio, where pupils can experiment, make and create with confidence. Guided by expert teachers and working with a wide range of materials and techniques – from lino cutting and collage, to clay and sculpture – girls develop their artistic skills while building curiosity, ambition and self-belief.

From Year 3, pupils are taught by specialist Art and Design Technology teachers, who encourage them to innovate, develop their creative ideas and explore new ways of working.

Design technology

Pupils explore DT from Nursery to Year 6 through hands-on making, prototyping and problem-solving. As they move up the school, specialist teaching introduces CAD, 3D printing, laser cutting, woodwork and sewing. Pupils experiment with mechanisms and programming using tools such as VEX robots, Makey-Makeys and BBC micro:bits. By teaching the basics of design thinking, we nurture girls to be curious, take creative risks and understand that mistakes are part of the process.
