Join the Junior School
her future starts here
When your daughter joins Blackheath High Junior School, she becomes part of an academically excellent all-through school where ambition, curiosity and confidence are fostered from the very beginning. She’ll enjoy the same exciting opportunities, inspiring teaching and access to fantastic facilities as our Senior School students – all tailored to her age and stage. As she grows, she’ll move seamlessly through the school, supported every step of the way, with everything in place to help her thrive throughout her journey.
Many families choose to start their journey with us in Nursery, enjoying the benefits of our all-through education. Other main entry points are Reception (4+) and Year 3 (7+), though we welcome applications for occasional vacancies in other year groups.

Apply
The next step is to make an online application.
We accept applications for Reception and Year 3 at any point during the school year, although we encourage early applications to avoid disappointment.
Apply
Simply fill in our application form and pay the non-refundable registration fee of £150 (£200 for overseas applicants) excluding VAT.
Assessment
Our Junior School assessments are designed to be fun and stimulating for girls, and stress-free for you. Our experienced teachers create a welcoming environment where every pupil feels comfortable and confident, with assessments tailored to the individual.
Assessment
Reception assessments take place in the first half of the calendar year your daughter is due to join. Reception assessments take place early in the year your daughter is due to join. We also welcome applications at other points in the year, so please do contact us for more information. These are play-based and focus on early maths, language and literacy through fun, interactive activities. We look for potential and readiness to learn, rather than prior knowledge.
Year 3 assessments take place in January of the year of entry. We also welcome applications at other points in the year, so please do contact us for more information. Your daughter will join us for an assessment day, which includes papers in English, Maths and Reading, followed by taster activities with her future classmates. We’ll also request a reference from her current school.
For occasional vacancies, simply contact our Admissions team on admissions@bla.gdst.net for personalised guidance.
Offers
If she is successful in the assessment, you and your daughter will be invited to an interview with the Head of Juniors. This is designed to help us get to you know your family better, explore your daughter’s unique strengths and needs, and answer any questions you may have.
Offers
Offers are made shortly after the interview. A deposit of £1,000 is charged when you accept the place and is returned at the end of your daughter’s time with us.
