Fees
Value and excellence
Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) schools have been rated among the best value-for-money schools in the UK independent sector, comparing results at both GCSE and A-level relative to fees. We are fiercely committed to providing an academically outstanding education that builds girls’ confidence, resilience and courage in a world that remains far from equal, at an accessible level for as many families as possible. Fees are reinvested into our schools to continually enhance our teaching, facilities and resources, wellbeing and the huge range of opportunities available to our girls.
School Fees for Academic Year 2026-2027
Following the government’s decision to apply VAT to independent school fees, the GDST has taken steps to minimise the impact on families. In line with our mission to reach as many girls as possible, we are absorbing a significant proportion of the VAT increase.
| Blackheath High School | Termly Fees (inc VAT) | Termly lunch fees |
|---|---|---|
| Nursery | £4,766* | £326*** |
| Reception | £6,857** | £326*** |
| Junior School | £7,054 | £326 |
| Senior School | £8,640 | £326 |
| Sixth Form | £8,640 | £326 |
Fees cover the regular curriculum, school books and other materials, choral music, and games, but not public examination fees, optional extra subjects, school visits or lunch.
Fees can be paid termly in advance or by monthly direct debit. Fees are paid directly to the GDST.
Early Years government grant for Nursery and Reception
- *All Nursery pupils are eligible for an Early Years government grant, which funds 15 hours of education per week. Grant funding is automatically deducted from the termly fee. The value of the grant is typically around £1,000-£1,400 per term, although the exact amount may vary, as funding is calculated on a weekly basis.
- Families may choose for their daughter to attend Nursery on a part-time basis, although we ask that pupils attend a minimum of five half-day sessions per week for consistency.
- Nursery fees are not subject to VAT.
- **Reception pupils are also eligible for an Early Years government grant up to and including the term in which they turn 5 years old. For example, if your daughter turns 5 in February, the grant will apply for the Autumn and Spring Terms, but not the Summer Term.
The GDST advantage
The GDST offers a number of initiatives to support your daughter’s journey at Blackheath High School.
- Sibling discount: a 20% discount on tuition fees for a third (and any subsequent) child when three or more siblings are concurrently enrolled in the school. This discount applies to the youngest child/children and remains in place for the duration of their attendance
- GDST Prepayment Plan: enables fees to be paid in advance for two or more academic years in return for a discount on termly fees. Prepaying can offer reassurance by securing a named pupil’s education for a set period and protecting against future changes in circumstances. If actual fees exceed the amount prepaid, any shortfall (and applicable tax) remains payable.
Application fees
When submitting your application, a non-refundable application fee is payable as follows:
UK applicants: £150 + VAT
Overseas applicants: £200 + VAT
A £1,000 deposit is payable on acceptance of your place and is refunded at the end of your daughter’s education at Blackheath High School.
Additional charges
- Individual music lessons can be arranged at a rate of circa £225 per term (dependant on the peripatetic tutor) – 10x 30 minute lessons.
- School lunches are compulsory for Nursery-Year 11, and can be opted-in to in the Sixth Form. Lunches are charged at £326 per term.
- ***For families in receipt of the Early Years Grant, school lunches and trips are not compulsory.
- School trips are a wonderful break from the classroom, and provide excellent academic enrichment. The number and nature of compulsory trips your daughter will attend – and the fees associated – depend on her year group. The total amount of fees for the year’s compulsory trips will be divided equally and paid termly, along with school fees. Parents will be notified of these costs at the beginning of the academic year.
- Along with compulsory curriculum trips that everyone attends, there will be opportunities for your daughter to go on exciting, optional trips. Download the Discovery Destinations brochure
- We offer optional wrap-around care for Nursery and Junior School pupils, in the manner of a Breakfast Club before school, and Extended Hours care after. Sessions are charged on an hourly rate and can be pre-booked through Parentpay. Find out more
