welcome from our head
Natalie Argile, Head
I am extremely proud to be Head of Blackheath High School, a place where girls learn without limits. Empowered by the spirit of our pioneering feminist founders, this is a school where girls are free to discover who they are – in the classroom, on the sports field, in concert, or on the stage.
We combine outstanding academic results with a down-to-earth approach in a supportive environment, where every girl is valued and championed for who they are. We do this by knowing each student as an individual – her strengths, her skills and her ambitions; and by creating a community and culture where these skills are celebrated and encouraged.
The truth is that the world we’re preparing girls for is evolving faster than at any time in human history – many of the jobs our students will go into don’t exist yet, and most of the technology we use now will have moved on by the time they enter the workforce. It is our job to give them world-ready skills, and to prepare them with minds that are curious, adaptable, creative and forward-looking. Everything we do, from our curriculum to our Futures programme and PowerSkills toolkit, to our co-curricular and enrichment offers, is designed for their future as leaders and changemakers.
For us, leadership is more than a title. It is a mindset. It is a way of showing every girl, from Nursery to Sixth Form, how to use their voice, how to question and explore the world around her, and how to go forward boldly. With this approach comes empowerment.
Our most recent ISI inspection reflected what I see every day – confident, resilient, kind and ambitious girls thriving in an inclusive environment where every voice is heard and every talent is valued.
We are proud of our past and energised by our future, and we use this energy to empower the next generation of trailblazers.
It is a true honour to be Head of a school where girls boldly go.

Giving girls an outstanding start in life is at the heart of everything we do – and it’s what makes me so proud to be Head of Blackheath High Junior School.
Our education is designed specifically for girls, balancing academic excellence with creativity, wellbeing and an exceptional co-curricular life. From her very first day, each pupil is encouraged to find her voice, explore her passions and grow in confidence, guided by expert teachers who understand how girls learn best. It genuinely is a school where there are absolutely no limits on what girls can achieve.
Learning here reaches far beyond the classroom – from Forest School adventures and theatre performances to coding, sports and the inspiring Mighty Girls Challenge. Every experience helps our pupils discover new strengths and a lifelong love of learning.
What truly makes our school special, though, are the girls themselves – creative, kind, curious and full of courage. I feel so proud and privileged to be part of their world.
No website can fully capture the warmth, energy and joy that fill our school every day. I would love you to come and experience it for yourself – to meet our inspiring teachers, our bright, curious girls, and to see firsthand what makes this such a special place to learn and grow.

It is a privilege to lead the Sixth Form at Blackheath High – a place where individuality is celebrated, ambition is nurtured and every student is known, supported and inspired to achieve her best.
What makes our Sixth Form special is the balance of breadth and personalisation. We dream big for students, offering 25 A-levels options, the EPQ, and a wealth of leadership and co-curricular opportunities – yet we stay small enough for every student to be heard, valued and truly known.
Our future-focused teaching mirrors university learning, with seminar-style classes that encourage independence, creativity and debate. Students are supported by an expert team dedicated to their academic progress, wellbeing, university applications and personal growth.
Through leadership roles, enterprise projects and life-skills workshops, our Sixth Formers develop the confidence, curiosity and resilience to thrive wherever their journey leads next.
Most importantly, Sixth Form here feels like a true community. Students lift each other up, celebrate each another’s successes, and form lasting friendships with peers and teachers.
Every day, I feel proud to see our Sixth Formers grow into confident, capable young women, ready to take their next steps and shape the world ahead.

Blackheath High Nursery is where your daughter’s incredible learning journey begins. We know that the experiences, relationships and environment of these early years shape her future – so we make every day joyful, nurturing and full of discovery.
We’re passionate about helping pupils to feel challenged and to take risks in a safe, nurturing environment. In our small, happy classes, specialist Early Years teachers and experienced assistants create a space where girls feel confident to explore, create and grow. Through hands-on learning, imaginative play and outdoor adventures in our dedicated Forest School, they build curiosity, resilience and a lifelong love of learning.
From French, to PE, to Music, our specialist teaching from the very start ensures each girl is inspired, challenged and perfectly prepared for Reception and beyond – ready to take on every new opportunity with enthusiasm and joy.
