Head of PE (Junior School) - Maternity Contract

This is an exciting opportunity for a well-qualified and passionate PE Teacher to play a key role providing maternity cover in a thriving and successful PE Department within an exceptional school with excellent PE facilities.

This post would suit a PE specialist with a particular passion for inspiring a love of sport and activity amongst our delightful and enthusiastic girls. The current post-holder has established an excellent inclusive ethos and we would expect applicants to build upon the current levels of enthusiasm and involvement through offering exciting opportunities, open to all.

You will be responsible for allocated teams within the Prep School and assist with the co-curricular provision for Netball and Hockey in the Autumn and Spring term and Rounders and Athletics in the Summer term. You will also coach lunchtime clubs and oversee the running of after school fixtures and training sessions. This will include responsibility for the co-ordination of junior fixtures, tournaments and transition activities at KS2 into KS3, as well as the co-ordination of sporting co-curricular activities at KS2

As well as a passion for PE and sport, the ideal candidate will have Level 1 (or equivalent) coaching qualifications in Hockey and/or Netball and will be passionate about working with young students.

PE at Blackheath High School

Physical Education and Sport at Blackheath High School is an important and flourishing department at an exciting junction of development. The department has made huge progress over the last few years and is looking to further enhance its participation and growth for all approach.

Facilities at Blackheath are excellent. At both the Junior and Senior schools there is a netball court and indoor space, a gymnasium at the Juniors and a sports hall at the Seniors, who also have a Dance Studio and a Fitness Suite. At our sports fields, we have a floodlit Astroturf, three Netball courts (which double as Tennis courts), a pavilion and a field which homes our Rounders pitches and Athletics track.
