Blackheath-On-A-High-School are celebrating their best ever all-round GCSE results

Record breaking GCSE results saw 37% of students receive the top grade A* (9/8) across all subjects, and 75% students receiving an A* or A in Computer Science, equipping the girls with programming skills for the future. 78% Art students received A* (9/8) or A (7).

Students continued to thrive in STEM subjects across the board with an abundance of students being awarded A* (9/8) to B (6) in Biology (100%), Chemistry (95%) and Physics (90%).

Language students all benefitted from the innovative, immersive style of language teaching e.g. performing drama in French or learning Martial Arts in Mandarin, adopted at Blackheath High School.  80% of Mandarin students received an A* and significant numbers of students received A*(9/8) to B (7) in French (70%), Spanish (60%) and German (50%),

The stars aligned for the Astronomy GCSE students who were over the moon to receive 100% A* (9/8) to A (7). Studying for their GCSE in the Royal Observatory in Greenwich Park clearly made impact. Astronomy student, Siya Bhutani, was on cloud nine be be awarded 11 A* (6 grade 9s, 1 grade 8 and 4 A*) and said “the students and teachers are so amazing, I’ve made an amazing bunch of friends forever”.

Ezi Fred-Nnoham was overjoyed to be awarded 10 A* (3 x A* and 7 grade 9s). On receiving her stunning straight A*s, Ezi said: “I’m overjoyed, overwhelmed and so excited to go on to study A Level Maths, Chemistry and Spanish here at the Sixth Form with the aim of fulfilling my dream of studying Medicine at Oxford.”

Head teacher, Mrs Carol Chandler-Thompson said “Every single one of our students have every reason to be proud of themselves, and we are really looking forward to them starting Sixth Form in our lovely purpose–built Sixth Form centre. We are delighted to be able to continue to foster their academic brilliance as well as work individually with them to help shape their ambitions for the future.”
