Zip wires and dragon boating on the Jurassic Coast

Year 7 set off full of enthusiasm for our PGL trip to Osmington Bay on 22 September. From the second we arrived, it was a whirlwind of activities designed to stretch, challenge and excite the girls. They were throwing themselves (in harnesses!) from high towers, zooming down zip wires, helping each other either physically with hand-ups or emotionally cheering each other on whilst watching.

There was also a lovely beach walk where we could really admire the Jurassic Coastline. There were campfires and ambush challenges in the evenings and vast amounts of comforting food to fuel the various activities. Although the girls enjoyed the thrill of the giant swing the most, my favourite activity was Dragon Boating at the Olympic Boating Park at Portland. It’s an enthralling sight, seeing the 3 dragon boats with 20 sailors in each, sailing across the harbour racing each other. It requires teamwork and discipline – excellent skills in any activity.

It was a fantastic weekend and we all – staff and students – thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
