Abi Gilchrist

Musician

This issue we spoke to Class of ‘95 alumna Abi Gilchrist. After leaving Blackheath High, Abi became a professional musician, taking on the role of Director of UK Soul Choirs, one of the UK’s best loved community choirs, and lead singer of vintage glamour act Miss Kiddy & The Cads. She even features in this year’s Marks & Spencer Christmas TV ad campaign!

Year 12 student Emily Clerkson interviewed Abi to find out more about her memories of Blackheath High School, how her career took shape after she left, her inspirations, and her passions today. Off-camera, we also heard a story which will be familiar to Abi’s classmates, about an enterprising mother who met the needs of her daughters’ enthusiasm for music by buying a milk float to transport them and their various instruments to and from school!

Emily found the interview “really inspiring” - if you would like to inspire a future generation of professionals via interviews, events, speaker opportunities and more, please do contact us and let us know a bit about your career alumnae@bla.gdst.net
