for a place
We are committed to investing in the physical environment of our school to create the best possible surroundings for our students to develop and reach their full potential.
Therefore, together with the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), we have committed a substantial investment to ensuring that our school environment and facilities match the excellent standard of education we provide for our students.
We have been working with architects, ‘EWA’ and are very impressed with their work on Westcombe House, the original Victorian school building, in Phase 1 of the project.
Phase 1 of the project transformed Westcombe House into a newly re-developed Sixth Form Centre. It was officially opened in July 2016 by the outgoing CEO of the Girls’ Day School Trust, Dame Helen Fraser. The refurbishment has been designed to inspire a mature, pre-university atmosphere and create a light, contemporary study environment for Sixth Form students. It has created a very modern and tasteful Common Room with a new, contemporary kitchen and dining area, lounge area and locker area which students are delighted with.
The next phase comprises the construction of:
The school is remaining fully operational throughout the build, which is being expertly managed to minimise disruption to students and local residents. The GDST’s Estates team is highly experienced in managing complex construction projects so that they have a minimum effect on both the school and the local community.
Seeing the project progress is very exciting for the whole school community and we are involving students at all stages through our ‘Big Build Committee’. They particularly enjoy tours of the site wearing hard hats and high visibility vests!
