SUPPORT

Welcome

Kate eilliott sixth form head slt profile

As you enter the Sixth Form, it is time for you to start the most exciting stage of your education so far. In choosing your A-level pathway, you begin to specialise in the subjects that will shape your future.

Our Sixth Form curriculum at Blackheath High is both wide-ranging and intellectually engaging. Tutorial and seminar style teaching by teachers who are passionate experts prepares you for higher education and the world of work beyond school.

Alongside your academic curriculum, a broad ranging programme of bespoke co-curricular and enrichment opportunities provide you with the chance to broaden your knowledge and hone your interpersonal skills. You might go from learning the value of teamwork and commitment as you learn to ‘row in an eight’ in PE lessons, to honing your presentation and organisation skills by leading an academic society and hosting visiting speakers for the Wollstonecraft lecture series. Networking opportunities provided by our membership of the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST) group of schools, enables you to make links and connections that will support you for life, as you set out on your future pathways. Our tailored ‘Bright Horizons’ careers and universities advice programme will enable you to make informed choices and be ready for whatever the world has on offer for you.

In taking on these opportunities, you will be well supported in a warm and open environment, by teachers who know each of you well as people. Time and again, our alumnae tell us that they regard Blackheath High as an extended family and the strength of these relationships is something we are immensely proud of.

I warmly invite you to visit us in person and look forward to meeting you.
