Girls expand their horizons in the Women in Leadership: The Entrepreneurial Edit event

What does it mean to have an entrepreneurial mindset and how can it be achieved? This was the focus for Blackheath High School’s second Women in Leadership event on Thursday 25 March.

Following an unprecedented period of social and economic disruption, our focus on entrepreneurial skills couldn’t have come at a more opportune moment. A range of incredible speakers led the students through a whirlwind of interviews, personal stories, advice, tutorials and a live panel discussion.

Our Keynote speaker, Griselda Tobogo from Forward Ladies delivered a truly inspiring speech to kick start the event, setting the tone for an engaging and purposeful day. Elizabeth Day (author and podcaster of ‘How to Fail’) shared her insights; Iris Waller explored mindset and aromatherapy with the Sixth Form in a live and interactive event. The pervasive smell of pure peppermint oil lingered enticingly! Emily Watson OBE (actress), Helena Lee (Deputy Editor, Harper’s Bazaar), entrepreneur Jo Chavasse and our own Headteacher Carol Chandler-Thompson discussed the challenges and opportunities of their career routes.

None of it would have been made possible without our terrific speakers. Thanks to them and to the students for making the Women in Leadership event such a success.
