Autumn Term at Blackheath High School

Since September, it has been wonderful to have the school filled with happy, smiling faces again and see the girls continue to thrive and support each other. The talent, spirit and generosity of our girls and the work produced across the school continues to amaze.

The Autumn Term saw the girls raise money for the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust with a ‘Mufti Day' in school. We’re so proud of girls in the Junior School who carried out a host of activities to raise money for Children in Need, and also launched a ‘reverse advent calendar' in school, including supporting local organisations with acts of kindness in the run-up to Christmas.

Our Sixth Formers carried out Dementia Training online as part of the partnership we have with Morden College, where some of our students volunteer. The training gave them invaluable insight and helped developed key life skills on supporting people with dementia.

Whist the current circumstances have meant we haven't been able to carry out certain events in the way we might 'normally' have done, this hasn't deterred us. Junior School girls learnt about and celebrated Hanukkah by making hand-print menorah. Students in both the Junior and Senior Schools treated us to wonderful dance performances to celebrate Diwali, which we were able to share with the whole school in an online assembly. Our talented Junior School and Senior School musicians also rose to the challenge and performed their Christmas Carol Concerts and nativity plays online. We even turned our whole school open day online, as restrictions meant we couldn't host parents and girls in school and are delighted to have record numbers applying to our 11+ entry.

This of course gives just a small snapshot of the term. We are so proud of what our girls and staff have achieved over the last few months.  We hope you enjoy this image gallery to give you a taste of what we’ve been up to.
