Head Girl Team Blog: For it is in giving that we receive

As we approach the end of the Autumn term, we mark the end of a busy academic period - whether that be sending university applications, or finally finishing mock exams. Needless to say, we are all looking forward to Christmas, which is fast approaching!

A particular highlight of this term has been the Year 13 community service, in which we offer a hand in our local community by volunteering our Tuesday afternoons. Some of us have walked dogs, worked in local charity shops or worked at the school library. I, along with a few others, have been helping out at the Greenwich food bank where we organise donated food and drinks.

Volunteering is a fulfilling and rewarding experience - something that we should all try at some point. Stepping out of your comfort zone and using your spare time to help make a difference allows you to develop as a person and make a visible change in your community. So I would encourage you all to give as well as receive this Christmas; to appreciate the people around you and to remember those who are less fortunate than yourself.

To finish off, I’d like to wish you all a Merry Christmas, and I’ll leave you with this quote:

“For it is in giving that we receive.
