Another exciting programme for Trips Day

It was another exciting programme for Trips Day on 21 March with every year group at Senior School embarking on a specially designed day of activities. Our Year 7 Mandarin students visited the British Museum to discover the achievements of the Shang Dynasty in the Asia Gallery. This was followed by a visit to the Chinese ceramics gallery and lunch in Chinatown where girls were encouraged to talk in Mandarin. Meanwhile, our Year 7 French students took part in activities based on the film ‘Ratatouille’. They learned about famous Parisian monuments, grappled with grammar and language based activities, and even practised their new vocabulary while preparing the traditional French dish, ratatouille. Ooh la la...

For Year 8, it was an exciting visit to the Natural History Museum to participate in experimental work in the student laboratory and to attend a lecture called ‘Rocks the House’. Year 9 were immersed in a Politics day, studying the workings of the House of Commons, participating in a mock Parliamentary Debate on the issue of votes at 16 and watching as one of them became Prime Minister for the afternoon! Year 10 hosted the annual Senior Citizens’ Party and Year 11 had a Careers Day with careers testing, time working on their CVs and mock interviews – valuable preparation ahead of their work experience in the summer.

Our Sixth Formers were equally busy with either First Aid training, a finance and budgeting session, a visit to a Conservatoire Level London Drama School or a trip to the Duke of York Theatre to see ‘Mary Stuart’. All in all, a very successful Trips Day – well done everybody!
